Australian Prime Minister Brushes Off Shocking new Population Growth Numbers
Posted on: February 1st, 2010 by Andrew SoyerIt now seems that shocking new figures have just recently been released by the Australian government that show that the Australian population could be rising to almost 35 million by the year 2050. Apparently this has a lot to due with the vast number of emigrants coming in to Australia.
However Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has been very laid back about the whole thing. He went on to say, when questioned about the information, that he really did not have a view on the mater. Despite the fact that Kevin Rudd may not have a view, opposition is certainly not holding back how they feel on the matter.
Dick Smith, a high profile businessman, said that unless the population expansion is curbed, the future of Australia could be bad. He went on to recommend cutting skilled emigration workers and encouraging people to have fewer children. He did say that he was backed on these ideas by the majority of Australians, saying that nine out of 10 Aussies do not want 40 million people in Australia.
Concerns have been being voiced about the rapid population boom. All of this is leading to a very fragile ecosystem for many parts of Australia. Some places are seeing water shortage and a lack of housing, among other things.
Right now there are many British people that are trying to emigrate to Australia because of the low population rates and the vastness of the country. These British people seek to escape from the overcrowded UK, which is currently dealing with its own emigration problems.
