The Hilton hotel chain plans to develop its business in Australia by introducing new resorts to the tourism market. The company typically aims their business at traditional business clientele but would like for their new developments to crack the tourism industry.

The Hilton hotel chain is proposing to launch the Hampton and Doubletree Hilton brands which the company believes will flatter the existing Hilton hotels. The Blackstone group is in possession of the Hilton, and they would like to build a new hotel in Melbourne as well as a hotel and apartment development on East Australia’s popular tourist destination ‘The Gold Coast’.

The Hampton by Hilton hotels will be aimed at a similar market as Travelodge’s, providing bed and breakfast and cheap accommodation. The Doubletree brand, which will be introduced to Australia for the first time, is a 4.5 star hotel chain, aimed at the tourism market.

The president of the Hilton Hotels-Asia Pacific chain, Koos Klein, attended the Asia Pacific Hotel Investment Conference last week and later announced that the Blackstone group in position to open 300 more hotels across the world over the next 9 years.

A statement from Mr Klein said that “As the pace of development gains momentum, the challenge for the industry going forward will be to quickly develop new talent and build the leaders of tomorrow with the right skill set to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.” Mr Klein predicts that the Australian hotel development will have positive impacts both socially and economically on the Australian tourism industry.
