To start with, Australia first chose to crack down on emigration by way of changing emigration rules. Now, however, it seems that Australia is going to get tough on terrorism by imposing new checks on Australia visas.

All emigrants and visitors from certain countries around the world will be subject to these tough new measures. These measures will include storing fingerprints and facial imaging data. Australia refuses to say just what countries will be subject to with these new checks. However, it is thought that almost ten countries will be affected by these new changes. Australia will then cross check this information with databases in Australia, as well as other countries, in order to detect any terrorist threats.

The Minister for Australia Emigration, Kevin Rudd, said that terrorism countries pose a serious threat. Thus, a serious challenges come to Australia to stop terrorism. This is not a threat that will just go away on its own.

These new measures will cost around $69 to put in place. Pretty much, this money will go to setting up a national control center with biometric facilities. However, not all threats of terrorism come from outside Australia. Just last week five Australian citizens were jailed for stockpiling chemicals and weapons, which were to be used in terrorists attacks.

Right now security and emigration control are big issues all over the world. Most of the terrorist threats come from the failed Christmas Day bombing that took place on a flight to the United States. Although the bomb failed to go off, people still want to know how the man was able to get a bomb on the plane in the first place.
