Judges in Queenstown are now apparently fed up with rowdy tourists that behaved badly in the New Zealand ski resort town. Many of the tourists that come to this area are now clogging up the court system with alcohol- and drug-related charges.

Just last week Judge Paul Keller told a Canadian man that was charged with assault and theft that he was part of a much larger problem in Queenstown. He went on to say that, regrettably, this man is one of the main kinds of people that come to this county. They come and drink and engage in acts of violence.

Then, that same week, Keller had to consider a South African man’s application for a discharge without conviction on a drug dealing. He said that every time he sat in Queenstown, there were international tourists who appeared on drug charges. He convicted the man and said that he will likely be deported, along with his family.

Of course, Keller is not the only judge that is fed up with it. Other judges around New Zealand have had enough of it too. They are proving that enough is enough by really cracking down on the people who come to these areas and repeatedly act out of line.

So what does this mean for tourists coming to this area? It does not mean that tourists cannot enjoy themselves while in New Zealand. However, it does mean that New Zealand is no longer just going to put up with this kind of behavior. People come to New Zealand to have a good time, but there is a fine line between having a good time in New Zealand and acting out of line.
