BravoFly is One of a Kind

Posted on: May 30th, 2008 by Paul Scott

If you’re looking for excellent prices on trips throughout Europe, check out BravoFly. The unique travel site offers users the opportunity to price and book flights using over 100 low cost airlines. There are other services as well, from car rental to hotel booking reservations.

The things that make BravoFly outstanding are its state of the art search engine and ease of use. The search engine is unique because it offers up to the minute pricing and availability, which many travel sites do not. The search engine, known as Volagratis.com, also allows customers to compare prices between several low cost airlines and saves would-be travelers time and money by presenting information in one place.

Based in Amsterdam, BravoFly has offices in Ireland, Switzerland, and Italy, giving it the ability to have intimate knowledge of the regions in which it serves. There are many subsidiaries of BravoFly, such as BravoFly Spain, BravoFly France, BravoFly UK, and many others. Each possesses the same capabilities and level of customer service, even on holidays.

In addition to offering low cost flights, BravoFly is affiliated with over 70,000 hotels and other services to make your next holiday the best you’ve ever had. Over two million people have booked with BravoFly and have supplied a lot of positive feedback regarding the trip, how easy it was to book, and confidence in knowing that BravoFly is 100% secure since it uses Verisign to confirm all financial transactions.

In a nutshell, BravoFly has no direct competitors, in the European market or elsewhere. It’s certainly worth a look when shopping for your next flight!

Yeah, right. Avoid these con-artists at all costs!!! Bravofly – you should be ashamed of yourselves – get your standards out of the eighties for God’s sake. This company is operating on the fringes of legality. They charge a 16 euro service fee (but are not upfront about it) plus 8 euros to process your card. No other airline or booking agency I have ever encountered asks more than 5 euros for a card payment, and as for service fees – with everyone else they’re part of the package. But it gets worse. Choose a flight and a page comes up saying “your flight is available and can be booked straightaway”. So you submit your card details, payment is authorised and taken, and then they tell you that your booking is not yet confirmed, and they will let you know ‘within a few hours’, after verifying with the airline, whether you have your flight or not. After waiting 2 hours, I tried to call them and found that in order to speak to them, I have to pay 1.80 euros per minute upfront, i.e. pre-billed on my credit card – and you won’t get connected to customer service unless you input your credit card information. Now I understand why they offer to sell you a fast track service code when you book for about 12 euros extra. I booked with them because I was having trouble finding a last minute flight. I suspect that they wil also fail to find me a flight, but I now have to wait and see, because they’ve already billed my card. So I’m stuck and the clock is ticking. Avoid these con-artists at all costs!!!

I left a comment yesterday which you moderated out of existence. I’ll try again in slightly less passionate terms. The above blurb must have been written by a Bravofly executive and it’s in the public interest to publish what I have to say.

Bravofly charges a 16 euro service fee plus 8 euros to process your card. They are not upfront about it, but presumably count on the probability that once you get that far through the booking process, then you can’t be bothered to give up and go somewhere else.

When you select a flight, a page comes up that tells you that “your flight is available and can be booked straightaway”. So you submit your card details and payment is taken. Only then do you discover that your booking is not in fact confirmed, and that they will let you know “within a few hours” once (they say that they have to verify with the airline, but no other online agency I know of keeps you waiting – or charges a service fee for that matter).

I called for confirmation and found that in order to speak to them you have to pay 1.80 euros per minute (they offer a “fast track” service at the time of booking for about 12 euros extra). Once I got through, I was told that they could not confirm my reservation as they didn’t have access to that information – but that confirmation usually arrived by email after about 24 hours. To be fair it did, but I still felt exploited and ripped off.

So you can pay Bravofly as much as 36 euros for service charges that would be free in most other places, but that is not made clear until quite far through the booking process. Does this kind of business practice seem right to you?
