Car Hire Customers Being Affected by Volcanic Ash
Posted on: April 19th, 2010 by Samuel EdwardsIt now seems that UK flights are not the only thing being affected by the big cloud of volcanic ash. It now appears that holidaymakers with car hire bookings will be unable to collect their rental cars at the designated time. This has to do with the fact that many travelers have no alternative means of reaching their holiday destination.
The managing director of Carrentals.co.uk, Gareth Robinson said, “It is not currently known when flights from the UK will be able to take off, with planes currently grounded until at least 01.00 on Saturday, which will have a knock on effect for many travelers with car hire bookings.”
He went on to say, “We have already seen a number of cancellations coming through as customers have been unable to make it to their holiday destination. We would advise all travelers with car hire bookings who are affected by grounded flights due to the volcanic ash to contact their individual car hire supplier to find out what their policy is on cancellations or delayed pick ups.”
Right now, as there are no guarantees when the grounding of planes will stop, travelers and car hire companies will have to face even more disruptions. This could last for the next few days.
