Minister for Tourism in Australia Launches New Marketing Campaign for Sydney
Posted on: April 28th, 2010 by Bobby JonesIn a new effort to attract even more international and domestic tourists, the Minister for Tourism just launched a new tourism marketing campaign for Sydney and Regional NSW on Friday. The new tourism marketing camping for Sydney is based on a new word, which is “Sydnicity.”
Many high profile Australians have already been recruited to take part in the campaign. This includes fashion designers Sarah Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton. Seven-time ASP Woman’s world surfing champion Layne Beachely will be taking part in the campaign as well.
Minister Jodi McKay said that people know about Sydney’s fantastic food, fashion, arts, culture, national beauty and outdoor lifestyle. However, this is a city that has many more stories to tell. On top of this, the Minister of Tourism will be working with a range of international airline partners to build Sydney’s profile and encourage more visitors from overseas markets.
The Sydney campaign will be rolled out over the next twelve months in key international tourism markets, including the United States, UK, New Zealand and South East Asia. For Regional NSW, the campaign will focus on the diversity and variety of holiday experiences available. They are urging travelers to see where Australia takes them.
Jodi McKay said that it would be aimed at the domestic Austrian market, as well as the New Zealand market. She said that they want more New Zealanders to get out and about in Regional NSW, and that the new advertising is expected to reach more than half the population. Thus, one thing is for sure, this is going to be one big ad campaign.
