Recently the whole world has turned its eyes upon Shanghai. In fact, Shanghai will more than likely be the topic of conversation for the next six months as it is the city that has been chosen to host the biggest world fair ever, the World Expo 2010.

Shanghai World Expo 2010 has already brought much international attention to the city with its official opening ceremony. This opening ceremony happened over last weekend and proved to be a big success with fireworks that exploded all over the city’s skyline. The ceremony also had performances by international superstars, and 20 world leaders came to see the show.

Shanghai has actually successfully transformed an old shipyard and residential area into a spacious Expo site set along both banks of the Huangpu River. The city has also made getting transport to the Expo very easy. This was done with ferries and subway lines that were provided at no extra cost. With the participation of 189 countries and 57 international organizations, the Shanghai World Expo is the largest ever in History.

Starting from now and lasting through October, all participating countries will use their pavilion to exchange ideas in the development of the future world economy. They will unveil their latest achievements in technology and science. More than 70 million people are expected to visit this expo, which has been given the theme “Better City, Better Life.”

The star attraction for this years expo is the $200 million China Pavilion, which the Chinese people are hoping will become the Eiffel Tower of China. It can handle up to 50,000 people per day and can only be accessed through appointment or Reservation Machines scattered throughout the city.
