Three Australian Women Survive Thai Boat Crash

Posted on: July 6th, 2010 by Robin Welch

Reports now confirm that three Australian women were recently inured in a Thai boat crash. These women went on to express their anger at reports that the vessel was banned from operating by local authorities on the same day of the accident.

The group of friends flew home from Bangkok on Saturday and were taken to Mona Vale hospital for further treatment and tests. One of the women, Vanessa Kenny, age 19, was transported by ambulance with a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and a head wound.

The other two women were taken to the hospital by car. One of the women, Chloe Bucknell, age 20, had a broken leg and cracked ribs. The other woman, Katie Pritchard, age 18, suffered from a collapsed disc and minor spinal fractures.

Another one of their traveling companions, Natalie Hensby, age 19, is expect to have to stay in the Thai hospital for up to 15 days to examine her brain contusion, fractured clavicle, fractured right wrist, punctured lung, and damaged pelvis. People are still waiting on more reports on this young lady’s condition.

The other three women, however, after being told that the boat was banned from waters on the day of the crash said that they just cannot believe it. They think that it’s ridiculous. However, that being said, they also said that it also explains just how crazy it all was.

These four women were a week into their first trip overseas, which was a two week Thailand holiday. However, on this day the boat that they were traveling on collided with another halfway between the two tourist islands of Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan. One of the girls also said that they were involved in a three car pileup in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
