Chinese Choose Australia as Top Travel Destinations
Posted on: July 14th, 2010 by Tina LaneIt now seems, according to a survey that was commissioned by PATA Travel Intention, that Australia is officially on top of the travel charts in China. Apparently this survey found out that more than half of all travelers from China were intending to holiday in Australia.
The survey went on to question the travelers on what criteria they use to choose a holiday destination. The results were sunshine, beaches and overall natural scenery. Thus, that is saying a lot about Australia’s natural beauty. So far, almost 360,000 visitors from China have traveled to Australia during the year ending in March of this year. This has generated a staggering $2.3 billion for the economy at a time when the economy needs it the most.
During the past few years, Tourism Australia has worked very hard to build up links within the Chinese travel industry. Thus, it seems that this hard work is finally starting to pay off.
The managing director for Tourism Australia, Andrew McEvoy said that, since gaining Approved Destination Status back in 1999, the China travel market has grown exponentially for Australia to become one of their top five sources of international travelers. Over the next coming years, Tourism Australia is doubling their efforts in this market and working closely with their airline partners to ensure that they continue to see growth in this market.
The very successful tourism campaign called ‘There’s Nothing Like Australia’ is going to be launched in China next month. This should prove to bring in even more Chinese tourists. However, it is not yet known just how many more tourists from China will be making their way to Australia due to the campaign.
