Reports are now showing that the United States is attempting to woo and bring in all of the international students that Australia is turning away. Recently reports have suggested that Australia has been turning away and making it harder for international students to study in Australia. However, one country’s loss is another gain, or at least this is the way the United States is looking at it.

Australia has really been seeing its international student numbers fall over the past few years. The controversy over attacks on Indian students and the shake up of the emigration policy are just a few of the reasons why these international student numbers are falling.

However, last week the Australian Department of Emigration and Citizenship tried to speak out to quell rumors that Australia is turning away international students. In fact, they went on to reassure people that Australia is welcoming international students with open arms. However, experts are saying that the “announcement” could have come a little too late.

It would appear that the United States is now finding itself experiencing a huge wave of international students showing interest in studying there. The United States government is thinking this is just what it needs to boost its economy and get back on track. International students generate around $18 million for the Australian economy, and now the United States is hoping to bring some of that money their way.

Some of the Top United States universities, like the University of California, are now targeting the Asian student market. This goes double for Chinese students. The bad news for Australia is that Chinese students made up about $3.8 million in Australia’s economy last year. This is a number that some say will now be declining in the coming years.
