Reports now show that both the UK and the United States are supporting the protestors in Libya. Apparently the two countries do not agree with the way the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is using violence as a way to quiet protests. This is a tactic that one government official called “barbaric.”

The British Foreign Secretary, William Hague, on Sunday, said that Gaddafi has to step down now. He went on to say that the best hope for Libya at this point is for Colonel Gaddafi to just call it quits.

In the meantime, however, William went on to say that the UK has withdrawn Gaddafi’s immunity in the UK. This order has been applied to his whole family. On top of this, it is also said that a special forces group from Britain was able to secretly rescue 150 oil workers Saturday night. Apparently these men were stranded in the Libyan desert. Among the men were 50 Brits.

Currently the British government is working around the clock to try and figure out just how many Brits remain in Libya. Their goal right now is to get these Brits out of the country as quickly as they can. They currently believe that at least 4,000 Brits are in Libya.

However, the UK is not alone in its thinking. The Obama administration in the United States also believes that Gaddaif has to go. It is also believed that Gaddafi is preparing for a big counterstrike against all protestors.

Right now most countries are recommending against all travel to Libya. Governments around the world believe that the area is not safe due to the violence that is being shown toward protestors in the country.
