Posted on: June 18th, 2008 by Tanya Propst

Skal International Long Island has a lot of reasons to celebrate. The international tourism organization has just celebrated its 25th Anniversary and has also named a new president. At a lavish dinner/dance held at Long Island’s famed Garden City Hotel, Roland C. Mracek, vice president Region 1, Skal International USA honored three Charter Members of the Club. Afterward, Mracek inaugurated Richard S. Kahn as the new Long Island Skal Club president.
“It is an honor to be present here and to officiate in both honoring three distinguished Skal members who have built this successful club on Long Island and to inaugurate its new president who is on track to expand the club over the next year,” said Roland Mracek in presenting the pins and certificates.

Also attending the celebration were members from associated Skal clubs including New York, Connecticut, Philadelphia, and New.

“We were very pleased at the diverse attendance at the celebration and I was personally honored to have been installed by Roland Mracek, the Region 1 vice president,” said Richard S. Kahn.

One of Kahn’s first tasks will be to launch a campaign to recruit new members into the club.

Kahn has 40 years of travel industry experience which will benefit his new volunteer position. Included are five years as an Aviation Week Magazine editor and 15 years as the Editor-in-Chief of Travel Agent Magazine. For the past 18 years, Kahn has been operating a own public relations and marketing company, KTCpr based in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY.
