As the biggest hotel group in Australia, Accor Hotels is offering Starbucks employees who will be laid off the opportunity to submit their resume and expressed interest of working at one of the 140 hotels owned by Accor throughout Australia. In several of the locations where there are Starbucks stores set to close, Accor Hotels has hotels, and they believe they can give full- and part-time positions to some of the employees who are let go by the closing of the stores, as they have a strong demand for workers who are experienced in the hospitality industry for their function departments and restaurants. Some of the locations that Accor has hotels include Sunshine Coast, Port Macquarie, Darling Harbour, Bondi, Harbart, Ballarat, Melbourne, Adelaide, Parramatta, Sydney City, Newcastle, Canberra, and Gold Coast.

Simon McGrath, the Vice President of Accor Hotels in Australia, said that a lot of the employees from Starbucks have built a solid career with the stores, and their operational skills and training levels make them probable and attractive employees to Accor Hotels. Having well-trained and experienced hospitality staff is a major part of the industry, he continued, and with the future and current growth plans for Accor, they are also searching for staff that is qualified to assist them in continuing the momentum of growth. There is continuous pressure in the hospitality industry to retain and attract a skilled hospitality staff, he said further, and even though it is regrettable that the Starbucks employees will be losing their jobs, hopefully they will be able to give some of them an alternative employment opportunity.
