1000th Flight of A380 Celebrated by Singapore Airlines
Posted on: August 9th, 2008 by Paul ScottSingapore Airlines again made history in the aviation industry on Monday when they operated their 1,000th commercial flight of the A380. The flight departed to London Heathrow Airport from Singapore Changi Airport as SQ 322. This was the 1,000th flight since the operation of the biggest passenger aircraft in the world was launched on October 25th of last year. The A380 from Singapore Airlines has operated remarkably during their close to 10 moths of operating commercial services, putting them at flying 8,500 hours and carrying nearly 400,000 passengers. Having a strong load factor is an indication from the passengers of the A380 cabin product from Singapore Airlines.
The aircraft features the popular suites from Singapore Airlines, which are so luxurious that passengers are offered their own private cabin while they travel in the sky. Their new business class showcases the widest seat in the world for that class while the new economy class on the plane promises passengers that they will be more comfortable, as the seats have intelligently designed features. In order to meet the continuing demand from their passengers, Singapore Airlines stepped up the training of their crew so more of them are qualified for operating the A380 during the years to come. At the present date, 2,000 cabin crew and 140 pilots have been trained in serving on-board and flying the plane. Singapore Airlines has 5 A380s that they operate right now, and they are set to receive another 14 of them, one coming next month, and they have options for getting 6 more.
