Jetstar, the low cost carrier operated by Qantas Airlines is looking to grow in the next year to be one of the largest carriers in Australia. Looking to capitalize on the increase in tourism and travel the airline has announced it will add a daily Brisbane-Darwin-Denpasar flight using the Airbus A320. This flight is schedule to begin in December and will work alongside the already existing Sydney and Melbourne Airbus flights currently running.

The new flights will use the Darwin International Airport as a hub according to a Jetstar Executive who said, “This is part of our narrowbody strategy of developing Darwin as a legitimate domestic and international hub.” Jetstar currently uses Darwin International for flights to Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.

Australians are becoming avid travelers and one of their favorite destinations is the Bali area. In fact the number of travelers to the region has increased more than 60 percent in the past two years justifying the need to use high capacity planes. In addition to the Airbus Service there will still be two weekly flights from Melbourne and four from Sydney.

After the first of the year Jetstar plans to add to their Airbus fleet with the addition of nine additional planes. The addition of these planes will bring the total to 32. These new flights as well as a growing fleet proves that the outlook for Jetstar is promising.
