Gold Coast Airport Prepares for Japanese Tourists
Posted on: September 12th, 2008 by Tina LaneWelcome, acknowledge, and thank are the three main objectives being taught to retailers at The Gold Coast Airport as retailers prepare for new flights originating in Japan. Where most travelers rush through the airport Japanese passengers are different. They tend to spend lots of time shopping in the airport and Gold Coast wants to take advantage of that.
A training company known as TravConsult will be working with each group of retailers to ensure they are prepared to work with the Japanese travelers. It’s not the first time Gold Coast Airport has used TravConsult to prepare for travelers from abroad. In the past the consultation firm was brought in to prepare for flights originating in Malaysia. According to a representative from the firm, “…engaging the Japanese visitor and understanding their cultural obligation to purchase gifts for work colleagues, friends and family back home, means your outlet has a better chance of securing sales with this inbound market.”
Of course the Japanese travelers won’t be the only ones benefiting from the training. With tourism rates to Australia declining everyone visiting the airport should see an improvement in how they are treated when shopping at one of the many retailers. The goal of the program isn’t to provide excellent customer service to Japanese tourist alone but to everyone. With that being said emphasis will be placed on the Japanese as they tend to do more shopping than most and can spend many hours browsing through merchandise.
