Australian Department of Emigration and Citizenship Offers Visa Advice
Posted on: November 26th, 2009 by Bobby JonesIt now seems that representatives from the Australian Department of Emigration and Citizenship will be holding information and advice sessions on the changes to the 457 Australia visa program. As of now, these sessions are set to be held in Western Australia.
The overall changes to the 457 visa came into effect back on September 14th of this year and aims to further protect overseas workers’ rights to a fair wage and working conditions once they reach Australia. Employers of Australian emigration workers who do not comply with these new changes could be liable for fines of up to $33,000.
Also, due to the changes, the Australian Tax Office and the Australian Department of Emigration and Citizenship are able to share information. This will make it harder for employers to evade these new laws. All workers on the Australia visa subclass 457 now have the right to be paid at market rates. Employers have until January 1st to comply with the regulation.
The information and advice sessions being held by the Australian Department of Emigration and Citizenship, will also explain new arrangements for paying health costs. A spokesman for the group said that they encourage employers, visa holders and other stakeholders to attend these sessions to learn about the changes.
Overall, these sessions will give people who are interested in applying for an Australia visa a chance to get some information about the changes before they fill out a visa. These sessions also give people a chance to ask their own questions and get advice on their cases. These sessions should prove to be enlightening for all that attend.
